From Secret Theme
to Real Solutions
When “Brain Touchpad Cloud” was revealed, nobody knew what to expect. But that's the magic of the Jam: constraints spark creativity. In just 48 hours, teams went from blank canvases to working prototypes that address real human needs.

Voices from the Jam
Attilio Venturin
Event Producer
What an incredible experience the Melbourne Service Jam was! Over 48 hours, we dove into inspiring presentations, valuable insights, and dynamic team discussions, all with fantastic support from the mentors. The organisers did an outstanding job creating an environment where it was possible to research, design, prototype, test, and present - all within just two days. It was also a great opportunity to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. We definitely need more events like this!

I'm a product manager, not a designer — and I wasn't sure if Service Jam was really for me. It absolutely was. In 48 hours, our team went from a broad, messy problem to a working solution. The format forces you to stop overthinking and start making. Our team ended up winning Figma-sponsored tickets to Config 2026, which was incredible, but the real value was the weekend itself. Ridiculously well-run, genuinely collaborative, and proof that you don't need to be a designer to belong in the room. If you're even slightly curious, just go.

The Melbourne Service Jam is a wonderful experience – it is creative, playful, freeing *and* insightful (how rare!). We were forced to use skills from every corner of our brain, and it pushed impressive outputs from all of us given the length of the jam. It's an absolute mental workout but one I'd do again.

Melbourne Service Jam was one of those rare experiences that reminded me why I fell in love with design in the first place. In just one weekend, I went from a blank slate to real conversations on the streets, to rough prototypes, to a pitch I was genuinely proud of, and I iterated every step of the way. It wasn't polished or seamless (what design project ever is?), but that's exactly the point. The Jam threw me into the discomfort of doing, not talking about doing, not planning to do, but actually making things with real people in real time. The energy in the room, the mentors, the chaos, the creativity, it all added up to something I didn't expect to feel so deeply: that the best design work happens when you stop overthinking and just start making.

The Melbourne Service Jam was such a great experience! Tamara, Mac, the mentors, speakers and everyone involved in organising brought so much playful energy. I felt inspired, and challenged to try new things, which was helped by sponsor Figma, as we could then vibecode. And even though the theme was quite open-ended, it was amazing to see the different solutions that all the teams designed.

CRM Designer, Content Producer
The Melbourne Service Jam allowed me to meet and hear from various inspirational figures in the industry and there was so much in 48 hours that I will take away and look to implement into my own practice. Being in a group of like-minded people working on something meaningful was such a great experience and has made me want to be a bigger part of the design community in Melbourne. Can't wait for what's next!
Until Next Time
The Jam may be over, but the connections, skills, and ideas live on. Thank you to every jammer, mentor, and volunteer who made this weekend unforgettable.
See you at the next Jam.
